Faded/Inconsistent Grout Color (Darkening) Back To Top

Purpose:  To darken and seal existing unsealed grout joints

Product Recommendation:  Enrich'N'Seal or Stone Enhancer (Note A & B)

Equipment:  Soft-bristle paint brush and white cotton towels

Coverage:  Approximately 200 - 700 sq. ft. (20 m2 – 65 m2) per coat per pint (473 ml)

Procedure:
1.  Always test a small area first to ensure satisfactory results.
2.  For new installations, Enrich'N'Seal can be applied 48 hours after grouting.
3.  Grout must be clean, dry and free of existing sealers and coatings.
4.  Apply 1 to 2 applications of Enrich'N'Seal using a soft-bristle paintbrush and working into grout joints.
5.  If more than 1 application is applied, allow 30 minutes drying time between applications.
6.  Using absorbent white cotton towels, polish dry any sealer remaining on the surface within 5 minutes of each application.
7.  Ready for surface traffic in 2 hours. Keep dry for 12 hours.

Note A:  Not recommended for use on epoxy grout or sealed grout joints, as Enrich'N'Seal must penetrate into grout.

Note B:  If grout is blotchy, Enrich'N'Seal will not provide a uniform color. Use Aqua Mix Grout Colorant to provide a consistent color.

Faded/Inconsistent Grout Color (Recoloring) Back To Top

Purpose:  To create uniform grout color, seal and ease ongoing maintenance.

Product Recommendation:  Grout Colorant (Note A)

Equipment: Grout Colorant Applicator, Grout Colorant Application Kit or toothbrush, white nylon scrub pad and a water spray bottle

Coverage: Approximately 50 - 300 sq. ft. (5 m2 – 30 m2) per coat per 8-ounce bottle (273 ml)

Procedure:
1.  Always test a small area first to ensure satisfactory results.
2.  Existing grout joints must be clean, dry and free of coatings or contaminants that may affect bond.  If sealer is present, use Sealer & Coating Remover to remove existing sealer prior to using Grout Colorant.
3.  New grout requires a minimum 48-hour cure time prior to using Grout Colorant.
4.  Prepare existing grout joints with Grout Colorant Pre-Treat Cleaner, Phosphoric Acid Cleaner or Grout Deep Clean.  Heavy-Duty Tile & Grout Cleaner or Stone Deep Clean is recommended for preparing grout joints around acid-sensitive tile or stone.
5.  If using Grout Colorant Applicator, pour Grout Colorant into bottle and apply a bead onto grout joint.
6.  If using Grout Colorant Application Kit or toothbrush, pour Grout Colorant into a small dish and apply onto grout joint using the applicator brush or a toothbrush.
7.  Spread evenly, working Grout Colorant into joint with applicator brush or toothbrush using a back-and-forth motion. Thin, even coats should be applied, limiting the amount of Grout Colorant that gets on the tile.
8.  If going from a dark to light grout color, more than 1 application may be necessary with a minimum 2-hour drying time between coats.
9.  After Grout Colorant has dried 1 or more hours (never more than 12 hours), lightly mist surface with water and let stand 5 minutes. Remove excess Grout Colorant from surface of tile using water and a white nylon scrub pad.
10.  Avoid direct scrubbing on grout joints for 20 days to allow a full cure.

Note A:  Grout Colorant not only recolors existing grout, IT PROVIDES A SUPERIOR SEAL AND REDUCES ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.

General:  This is a "maintenance" method of refreshing the polished finish to lightly worn or lightly etched polished marble, travertine, limestone and marble agglomerate tile.

Product Recommendation:  Marble Re-Polish (Note A, B, C & D)

Equipment:  Low RPM (175 – 350) floor machine utilizing #2 steel wool pads (#0 pad is optional).

Coverage:  700 – 1,100 sq. ft. (65 m2 – 100 m2) per 20 oz. spray bottle (590 ml)

Procedure:
1.  Always test a small area of 5 – 10 sq. ft. (0.5 m2 – 1 m2) to ensure satisfactory results.
2.  Ensure that floor is clean, dry, and free of existing coatings or finishes.
3.  Spray Marble Re-Polish onto a 3 sq. ft. (0.5 m2) section, spray 2-3 squirts per section.
4.  Polish immediately with a low rpm floor machine into stone surface utilizing a #2 steel wool pad in a side-to-side motion until floor is dry and no streaking is evident.
5.  On initial application, repeat this process for each section with a #2 pad. Apply additional product if needed.
6.  Repeat procedure utilizing a #0 pad if higher shine is desired or if residue is present.
7.  Flip pad or replace pad as needed.
8.  Dust mop or dry vacuum floor to ensure removal of any loose steel wool fragments on surface of stone and grout.

Note A:  For corners, edges, repolishing isolated spots, countertops or walls, use Aqua Mix Renue.  This product may be used by hand or small portable polisher.

Note B:  A high RPM (1500 – 2200) machine may be used with white nylon pad in place of low RPM/steel wool system.

Note C:  If floor has lippage or scratches, professional restoring is recommended; floor should be first ground to a smooth, even surface (using diamond abrasives) to ensure best repolishing results.

Note D:  Aqua Mix also offers Reviver, a polishing compound that can be sued in place of Marble Re-Polish, for a higher degree of restoration and shine.
